News Release from County Auditor
Nov. 1, 2018
While nearly all voters in Clallam County have received their ballots, a small number have reported that they are still waiting for their ballots to arrive. In following up on this concern, the Elections Office has been communicating with postal officials at both the Seattle and Tacoma Post Offices. The USPS has helped research every pallet of ballots that were included in the mail drop, and has not found that any trays of ballots are missing. The Elections Office and USPS are continuing to work together to further explore the concern of non-delivery or delayed mail.
Meanwhile, 33.45% of voters have already returned their ballots as of October 31. “It’s getting closer to Election Day, and we want to make certain voters have received their ballots and are able to vote,” said Clallam County Auditor Shoona Riggs.
If you have lost or not received your ballot, please use one of these options to obtain a replacement:
- Visit the Auditor’s Office at 223 E. 4th Street, Suite 1, in Port Angeles to pick up a replacement ballot. Office hours are 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, and 8:00am-8:00pm on November 6 Election Day
- Obtain your ballot online at wa.gov – this site allows you to print your ballot, and then you can fill it in, sign a declaration page, and mail it to the Auditor’s Office (the address is provided in the ballot packet).
Ballots are due by Election Day, November 6, by 8:00 p.m. if using an official ballot drop box, or postmarked by Election Day if sending through the mail. Remember that local post offices close earlier than polls close, and so it’s advised to return your ballot a day or two earlier to be sure it gets postmarked in time.
If you have questions about your ballot or your voter record, please contact the Auditor’s Office at (360) 417-2221 or elections@co.clallam.wa.us.
