The Washington State Legislature is now in session! This year is important to the future of our state – with a long session (105 days), our Republican leaders will have many tough fights on their hands as the reckless Democrats push for an even greater expansion of their power. Democrats have shown no ability to provide systematic solutions for the thousands of hard-working citizens who can no longer afford the cost of living, nor have they found solutions for the families broken by the culture of drugs and crime that Democrats have allowed to ravage our communities. Our State and Republican leaders in Olympia need your help!
We have created a one-stop site called ‘Olympia Watch’ to keep you updated with links to direct you to more information on bills filed and their current status in the legislature, links to find your district’s legislators so you can contact them, and information on how to testify during the legislative session.
Scroll down and click on “Bad Bills” and “Good Bills” – a dropdown to show current bills .
Click here and bookmark to check in daily and see what bills you can weigh in on!
On this site you will also see a link to ‘Influencing Olympia Effectively’, they provide a simple and free-of-charge online class that will help you build the skills needed to effectively make a difference as a citizen involved in the lawmaking process.
Republicans are pushing for common-sense approaches to restoring affordability, restoring public safety, and passing accountability measures to move our state in the right direction.
We will need your help spreading the word to help STOP the disastrous bills coming from Washington Democrats this year. Right now, there are 246 pre-filed bills for this years’ session – they tell a story of Democrats continuing to make Washington State more un-affordable, working against public safety, and restricting your rights as citizens of this great state.
A sneak peak at just a few of the bad bills Democrats are pushing early in this years’ long session:
Affordability
- HB 2026 (2021-22) – Adding a per-mile tax to Washington Drivers
- Despite yet another budget surplus and a weak economy, Democrats are seeking ways to take more of your hard-earned money and will likely introduce a bill proposing a 2.5 cent tax on every mile you drive in the state as recommended by their Transportation Commission.
- Public Safety
- HB 1025 – Eliminating Qualified Immunity
Qualified immunity protects our officers from liability for civil damages as long as their conduct does not egregiously violate constitutional rights. Elimination of qualified immunity would serve to further erode public safety in our state and could lead to other undesirable outcomes.
- Gun Rights
It is imperative that we STOP these bad bills in their tracks. We need your help in getting the word out to friends, family, and neighbors on these bad bills and establishing a ‘watch’ over Olympia.
Visit Olympia Watch on the WSRP website to learn more as the session goes on.
