June 27, 2020

The Washington State Republican Convention was held June 26-27, 2020, with around 1100 state delegates, who voted on national state convention delegates and alternates, and electors.  The final item on the agenda was the passage of the 2020 Platform, which incorporated and updated the 2016 platform, and is excellent.  This Platform reflects where we stand as Republicans, and also includes a brief history of the GOP.  You can read it here:  2020 Washington State Republican Platform.

State convention delegates met online for a virtual convention – the first of its kind in Washington State – due to the COVID-19 shutdown.  It went very smoothly, with State Chairman Caleb Heimlich facilitating.  Former Chair, Susan Hutchison, served as chair of the State Platform Committee, and she presently an overview of the platform, which had been made available prior to the convention.  The Platform passed with a 95.4% of the vote.

Our thanks goes out to our state delegates for taking their time to make a difference, and especially to Kaj Ahlburg, who served as our representative on the state platform committee.  He received a special mention from Susan Hutchison as being a valuable member of the committee, having served on the 2016 platform committee, as well.  Thanks also to Lois Perry, who served on the Rules Committee, and Michele Caples for her participation on the Credential Committee.  Sue Forde was elected as caucus chair for Clallam County, and Dick Pilling was elected as caucus vice-chair.

Now let’s get to work to elect Republicans to the State House and Senate, in all offices at the State level, for Congress, and for Governor!
