Most people do not understand the serious economic damage being done by the shut-down. Government and the incredible economic strength we had as a country at the beginning of this has protected people, so they do not recognize the difficulties they will face a few months into the future.
I saw a poll the other day that got me thinking about this. It was a poll about what people think about the shutdown. It was about 50/50 – people who think it’s the wrong way to handle it vs people who think it was the right thing to do. But what caught my eye was the type of education that people had who overwhelmingly approved of the shutdown. They are the people who have, not just a college degree, but a graduate degree. But those people are being protected right now – they are the ones who are in jobs that you can do from home. I’m one of those people (not the graduate degree – just someone fortunate enough to be able to do my job from home). The only thing I don’t do that is the same is wear my office clothing and drive an hour to and from work. My economic situation hasn’t changed. No big deal.

The Washington State Republican Convention was held June 26-27, 2020, with around 1100 state delegates, who voted on national state convention delegates and alternates, and electors. The final item on the agenda was the passage of the 2020 Platform, which incorporated and updated the 2016 platform, and is excellent. This Platform reflects where we stand as Republicans, and also includes a brief history of the GOP. You can read it here: 2020 Washington State Republican Platform.
State convention delegates met online for a virtual convention – the first of its kind in Washington State – due to the COVID-19 shutdown. It went very smoothly, with State Chairman Caleb Heimlich facilitating. Former Chair, Susan Hutchison, served as chair of the State Platform Committee, and she presently an overview of the platform, which had been made available prior to the convention. The Platform passed with a 95.4% of the vote.
Our thanks goes out to our state delegates for taking their time to make a difference, and especially to Kaj Ahlburg, who served as our representative on the state platform committee. He received a special mention from Susan Hutchison as being a valuable member of the committee, having served on the 2016 platform committee, as well. Thanks also to Lois Perry, who served on the Rules Committee, and Michele Caples for her participation on the Credential Committee. Sue Forde was elected as caucus chair for Clallam County, and Dick Pilling was elected as caucus vice-chair.
Now let’s get to work to elect Republicans to the State House and Senate, in all offices at the State level, for Congress, and for Governor!

Many of you knew my husband Bob. He was always so supportive, and by my side, especially in recent years; while I served first as State Committeewoman and currently as Chair. Before he retired, and was less able to work, he could be found putting up candidates’ signs for every race going all the way back to Jim Buck’s race for the State Legislature.
He fought valiantly against the Critical Areas Ordinance, going so far as to represent himself in court against a lawsuit brought to stop him, by then-commissioner, Steve Tharinger, et al. (The Building Industry of Washington, a couple of other counties, and other organizations came alongside him in that suit with Amicus Briefs, making its way to the Superior Court, where it was rejected by the State Supreme Court.) He also ran for county commissioner, and was elected as Clallam Conservation Board Supervisor. (more…)

*In their infinite wisdom, the United States’ Founders created the Electoral College to ensure the STATES were fairly represented.
Why should one or two densely populated areas speak for the whole of the nation?*
*The following list of statistics has been making the rounds on the Internet. It should finally put an end to the argument as to why the Electoral College makes sense.*
*Do share this. It needs to be widely known and understood.*
*There are 3,141 counties in the United States.*
*Trump won 3,084 of them.*
*Clinton won 57.*
*There are 62 counties in New York State.*
*Trump won 46 of them.*
*Clinton won 16.*
*Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.*
*In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton only won 4 of these counties; Trump won Richmond)*
*Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.*
*These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles.*
*The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.*
*When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.*
*Large, densely populated Democrat cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.) DO NOT and SHOULD NOT speak for the rest of our country!*
*And…it’s been verified and documented that those aforementioned 319 square miles are where the majority of our nation’s problems foment.*
