Clallam GOP Central Committee endorses Brad Klippert for “write-in” Secretary of State

Write In Brad Klippert for Secretary of StateOctober 7, 2022 – At its regular Central Committee meeting last night, there was a unanimous vote to endorse Brad Klippert as the Republican write-in candidate for Secretary of State.  With a top-two primary in Washington State regardless of political party, a Democrat and an “Independent” ended up in the top two spots heading into the general election, due to four Republican candidates running in that race, splitting the vote.

Klippert is endorsed by the Washington State Republican Party,  22 other County Parties so far, and that number is growing.

Klippert said, “I’m honored to answer the call to serve our State and work towards improving our election laws and systems.” Brad Klippert was first elected to public office in 2008 to represent the 8th legislative district and has been re-elected with overwhelming majorities in every subsequent election. Brad is a 7-term State House Representative. He currently serves as the House Minority Vice-Caucus Chair.

As a write-in candidate, Klippert’s name will not appear in the voting pamphlet or on the ballot. He’ll be counting on voters around the state to write in “Brad Klippert” for Secretary of State.

He opposes ranked choice voting, which has become a hot topic in the Secretary of State race after polls showed 40% undecided voters and strong opposition to Ranked Choice Voting. As Secretary of State, Klippert’s other priorities will include: Improving election integrity, Transparency & Security, ensuring voters are verified U.S. Citizens, making election day a holiday, and working to restore in-person voting. Klippert said, “My years of experience working within the legislature to create laws will help me chart a logical path towards improving our elections for all Washingtonians.”

Klippert’s priorities include:

Improve Election Integrity, Transparency & Security
Ensure Voters are verified U.S. Citizens
Make Election Day a Holiday
Restore In Person Voting
Oppose: Ranked Choice Voting!

Clallam County GOP passes resolution to Re-Open Washington, Defends County Autonomy

February 6, 2021

At its regular meeting of the Clallam County Republican Party, the Central Committee unanimously passed the following resolution:

Resolution Calling for Re-Opening Clallam County and Defending County Autonomy

Whereas, the forced shutdown in response to the Covid19 pandemic has had detrimental impacts to the economic, social, mental and emotional health and wellbeing of Clallam County residents that far outweigh any health benefits; and

Whereas, edicts issued by Washington State Governor Jay Inslee threaten the autonomy of Clallam County, under its Home Rule Charter, by administratively usurping county authority and creating regional governance without legislative authority or legal due process; (more…)

Bob Forde, husband, father, grandfather, friend, citizen activist and strong Republican, passed away Thursday, May 21st, 2020

Many of you knew my husband Bob.  He was always so supportive, and by my side, especially in recent years; while I served first as State Committeewoman and currently as Chair. Before he retired, and was less able to work, he could be found putting up candidates’ signs for every race going all the way back to Jim Buck’s race for the State Legislature.

He fought valiantly against the Critical Areas Ordinance, going so far as to  represent himself in court against a lawsuit brought to stop him, by then-commissioner, Steve Tharinger, et al. (The Building Industry of Washington, a couple of other counties, and other organizations came alongside him in that suit with Amicus Briefs, making its way to the Superior Court, where it was rejected by the State Supreme Court.)  He also ran for county commissioner, and was elected as Clallam Conservation Board Supervisor. County Board to join ICLEI promoting UN Agenda 21 – again?

County Board to join ICLEI promoting UN Agenda 21 – again?

by Sue Forde

Posted Dec. 6. 2019

Clallam County is moving toward rejoining ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability (a subset of Agenda 21-Sustainable Development). At its worksession on Dec. 2, 2019, Commissioner Mark Ozias (D) suggested joining in order to take advantage of a computer program which would “monitor greenhouse gas inventories” in Clallam County.  According to the agreement to be signed, however, the scope is far more encompassing than the use of a computer program. The agreement to join incorporates the document by ICLEI titled “Global Challenge, Local Action”.  Under “How We Work – Five Pathways”, it states:  “Scale up and expand the model of Sustainable Cities and Regions”, and “Undertake a Collective Effort for Global Change Across all Sectors and levels of Government”.

This despite the fact that in 2011, the County terminated its dues-paying relationship with ICLEI after citizens objected to it because it in effect relinquishes control of our government to a global government – the United Nations. ICLEI, according to its document submitted as part of the agreement for Clallam County, states, “ICLEI is the leading global network of more than 1,750 cities, towns and regions committed to building a sustainable future.”  Further, it states, “ICLEI is the leading local government network dedicated to sustainability and climate action.  For 30 years, we’ve represented the voice of cities and counties on the global stage.” (emphasis added) (more…)

Important News about the County Commissioner Race

News Release from Shoona Riggs, Clallam County Auditor

July 23, 2019

Primary ballots for the Clallam County Commissioner District No. 1 race were inadvertently sent to voters without information relating to the candidates’ party preferences.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, a notice will be mailed to all voters in Clallam County Commissioner District No. 1. This notice provides the party preference information as it should have been stated on the ballot. A copy of the notice has been sent with this press release.

Prior to sending the notice, Clallam County Auditor Shoona Riggs and staff met with the impacted candidates and representatives of the Republican and Democratic Parties. At the meeting, all present discussed why updated ballots could not be sent out after ballot processing has begun at the Auditor’s Office. Pursuant to RCW 29A.40.070 and WAC 434-250-080, no additional ballot may be issued to a voter whose ballot has already been accepted. It was agreed that sending a notice to voters was the best course of action to address this unfortunate error. (more…)
